01
Who these terms are with
Sideline Call (“the game”, “we”, “us”) is operated by [OPERATOR LEGAL NAME], whose address is [REGISTERED POSTAL ADDRESS]. When you use the website at sidelinecall.com, the game at sidelinecall.com/play, or the Sideline Call app on iOS or Android, you are agreeing to these terms.
If you do not agree with them, please do not use the game. You can stop at any time by deleting your account.
Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live. Where a term below conflicts with those rights, your rights win.
02
What Sideline Call is, and what it is not
Sideline Call is a score prediction game for Gaelic games. You call the scorelines of upcoming fixtures across football, hurling, LGFA and camogie, from senior championship to minor, and you get points for how close you were. You play against friends in private leagues, against a Survivor pool, and against everyone else on a leaderboard.
Three things it is not
It is not gambling. There is no entry fee, no stake, no wager and no prize of any value. Nothing you win can be exchanged for money or anything else. You cannot lose money on Sideline Call because there is no way to put any in.
It is not official. Sideline Call is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Gaelic Athletic Association, the Ladies Gaelic Football Association, the Camogie Association, or any county board, club or competition organiser. County names, colours and crest-like marks are used descriptively, to identify teams.
It is not where you check a score. Scores shown in the game are there to run the game. Do not rely on them for anything that matters.
The game is a work in progress. Fixtures and results in it are currently stand-in data generated by the app itself, not a live feed, and are clearly not real scorelines. Accounts and saved seasons, on the other hand, are real: they are stored, and they follow you between the web and the phone apps.
03
Who can play
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, please make sure a parent or guardian is happy for you to use the game and to give us the email address you sign up with.
You can look at the front page and play as a guest without an account. A guest season lives only in the browser you played it in; it is not saved to us, and clearing your browser data clears it.
One person, one account. Do not create an account for someone else, and do not let anyone else use yours.
04
Your account
You can sign up with an email address and password, or with Apple, Google or Facebook. Whichever you choose, you are responsible for keeping access to it secure. If you think someone else has got into your account, change your password and tell us at support@sidelinecall.com.
Keep the details on your account accurate — in particular the email address, which is how we send you a password reset and how we would tell you about a change to your account.
We store the email address on your account, a display name, the county you follow, which codes you play, and the seasons and predictions you save. What we do with all of that, and how long we keep it, is set out in the privacy notice.
05
How to behave
This is a game people play with their club and their family. Please do not:
- choose a display name that is abusive, obscene, hateful, or that impersonates somebody else;
- use the game to harass, threaten or bully anybody;
- try to reach data that is not yours — other players' accounts, our admin tools, or anything behind them;
- automate play, script the game, or run more than one account to move a leaderboard;
- scrape, copy or republish the game's content in bulk, or attempt to reverse engineer it;
- send invitations to people who have not asked for them, or use the invitation email as a way to send anyone a message they did not want;
- attack, overload or interfere with the service, or try to get around the limits on how often it can be used.
If you break these rules we may remove content, reset a display name, suspend your account, or close it. Where it is reasonable to do so we will tell you why first, and you can reply to us about it.
06
Leagues, pools and invitations
You can create a private league or Survivor pool and invite people to it with a code, a link, or by asking us to email them an invitation.
If you ask us to email an invitation, you are telling us that you know the person, that the address is theirs, and that you have a good reason to believe they would want it. We limit how many invitations one account can send, and how many any single address can receive in a day, and we will act on complaints about invitations that were not wanted.
Anyone in a league you join can see your display name, your county and your points in that league.
07
Fixtures, results and scoring
Predictions close at throw-in for the match they are about. A call you have not saved before then is not a call.
Results are entered by us and can be corrected. Scores, points, leaderboards and pool eliminations are recalculated when a result changes, which means a standing you saw earlier can move. Where a correction changes something significant, we will not pretend it did not happen.
The scoring rules — what an exact call is worth, what the banker does, how a Survivor pool eliminates — may change as the game develops. We will not change them retrospectively inside a round that has already been settled.
Where a genuine mistake, an outage or a data error has plainly affected a result, we will fix what can be fixed. We cannot guarantee to reconstruct a season perfectly, and we are not able to award compensation of any kind, because there is nothing of value at stake.
08
Availability, and the fact that this is early
We will try to keep the game running and working, but we do not promise that it will always be available, or free of bugs. It is provided as it stands. We may change features, add them, or take them away, and we may suspend the service for maintenance.
Because the game is still in development, expect rough edges: stand-in fixture data, features that move, and occasional resets of things that are clearly labelled as samples. Your account, your profile and your saved seasons are not sample data and we do not reset those.
If we ever decide to shut the game down, we will give you reasonable notice by email to the address on your account, so that you can get a copy of your data before it goes.
09
What you put in, and where it shows
Your predictions, your seasons and your profile are yours. By using the game you give us permission to store them, and to show them where the game is meant to show them — your name, county and points on a leaderboard, in a league you have joined, and in a Survivor pool you are in. That permission ends when you delete your account.
If you send us a suggestion, a bug report or a piece of feedback, we may act on it and build it without owing you anything for it. We will not publish your name against it without asking you.
10
Our material, and everybody else’s
The name Sideline Call, the shield mark, the design of the site and the app, the code behind them and the wording on them belong to [OPERATOR LEGAL NAME] or are used under licence. You may not copy them, or use them in a way that suggests we endorse something we do not.
County names, county colours and the associations' own trade marks belong to the bodies that own them. We use them descriptively so you can tell one team from another, and we make no claim to them.
11
Ending it
You can end your account at any time. In the game, go to Settings and choose Delete my account. That removes the account, the profile, every season and every prediction saved to it — on the web and on the phone apps. There is no undo and no copy kept. The steps are written out on the support page.
We can end it too, if you break these terms in a way that is serious or repeated, if we are required to by law, or if we close the service down. Unless the law requires otherwise, we will tell you at the email address on your account.
A leaderboard row that already existed may take until the next rebuild of that table to disappear. Nothing else survives the deletion.
12
Liability
Sideline Call is free, and it is a game. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost data, lost time, a missed prediction, a scoreline that turned out to be wrong, or anything you did because of something the game told you.
Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. If you are a consumer, your legal rights are unaffected by anything in this section.
13
Which law, and which courts
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute about them.
If you are a consumer living in Ireland, in Northern Ireland, in Scotland or elsewhere in the EU, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings in your own country's courts.
If something has gone wrong, please write to support@sidelinecall.com first. Most things are quicker to fix than to argue about.
14
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the game changes. The version and date at the top of this page always say which one is current.
If a change materially affects you — a change to what we do with your data, to how accounts can be closed, or to your rights here — we will tell you by email to the address on your account, or in the game, before it takes effect. Carrying on playing after that is how you accept the new version. If you would rather not, you can delete your account.
